Dragon Ball Z: The Fate of Trunks
Release Date: Delayed Indefinitely
Game Information
(May 28, 2008)
Unfortunately, a lot of data was lost in 2006 and development was since halted. Future plans to finish this game remain optimistically positive. If we do continue development, news will be posted on the main page. Enjoy the whopping 69 available images of the game from early stages to the late stages.
-----------------------------------------
(June 29, 2006) Some of the placeholder textures have been replaced with new textures on the buildings.
(June 20, 2006) Two new images showing off Capsule Corp.'s Atrium area.
The updates have been coming along slowly, but the project is going to wrap up sometime in May. Right now, the rest of the character models are being created specifically for the storyline. Once that's done, it's smooth sailing from there on! I updated with five new images (one showing off the choice option that will occur often in the game) from Chapter II.
The game has officially been named Dragon Ball Z: The Fate of Trunks.
Originally project-titled "DBZ OG: Trunks" (Dragon Ball Z Original Game: Trunks), this game has been developed into an open-ended RPG that takes place in Future Trunks' timeline after he defeats future Cell shortly after returning to his own time (as seen in the anime).
- This game is not for sale (I don't own any rights) and it's being made for free, because I love Dragon Ball!
- It's not a mod to any existing game, but a stand-alone game that can run on its own.
- The release date is currently scheduled for May 2006.
- It's being programmed in DarkBASIC Classic. I have been programming for five years in this language.
- Other tools I use are Paint Shop Pro 7 and 3D Canvas Lite Pro.
- The entire world of the game will have no loading times at all. Everything will load up from the get-go so the game is as seamless as possible.
- Gamers will have the ability to customize the way Trunks looks.
- Gamers can make choices in the game to alter the outcome of aspects of the story and character developments.
- The story is written by a well-received Dragon Ball Z fanfic writer.
- The game features real-time weather and day/night cycles.
- Gamers can save anywhere in the game by the push of a button.
- The interiors of many buildings are completely modeled in 3D (without loading times!).
- Gamers can buy, find, or make capsules with various items inside ranging from vehicles to couches. Said items can be placed anywhere in the game and will never disappear unless destroyed.
- There will be a card battle mini-game that gamers can play that allows them to battle against in-game opponents and win rare capsules and cash. Optionally, gamers can also create card decks and have a "virtual avatar" that gives a gamer a password to share with friends to battle that gamer's card deck. (This feature remains to be seen whether or not it will make the final cut of the game.)
- Support for the official Xbox 360 Wired Controller has been added for those who want the console experience in the game and the option to use a device RPGs cater well to.
